Matthew Palmer is a twenty-four-year veteran of the U.S. State Department and a member of the Senior Foreign Service. He is currently serving as the Director for Multilateral Affairs in the State Department's Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. A life member of the Council on Foreign Relations and Distinguished Graduate of the National War College, he has worked as a diplomat all over the world. While on the Secretary of State's policy-planning staff, Palmer helped design and implement the Kimberly Process for certifying African diamonds as conflict free.
